It could be good to allow passing usual strings to echo.

For example,

echo(chalk.red(something))
// could be good better than
echo`${ chalk.red(something) }`

Yes, I think so. I use this, but it's too complex and could cause some problems with transpiled tags.

How to import the experimental module?
I made a mjs file and it locates in my folder, I want to import 'experimental' module to use 'echo' function, but when run that file, en error thrown. like,
Error [ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND]: Cannot find module 'C:\SCRIPT\zx\experimental' imported from C:\SCRIPT\zx\co.mjs.

what shall I do?

I have to using complete path to load the experimental path. like below
import { echo } from "file:///C:/Users/myPc/AppData/Roaming/npm/node_modules/zx/experimental.mjs";

This means node can’t find node_modules installed globally. Check your NODE_PATH env var.

Actually, there is a NODE_PATH env var...
NODE_PATH=C:\Users\myPc\AppData\Roaming\npm\node_modules

I also had this issue ... I found that require seems to work and import does not ... an example:

// import casual from 'casual' // this DOES NOT WORK to load "global" modules
var casual = require('casual'); // this works to load "global" modules

So maybe a workaround, but not sure why import doesn't work with it and it'd be nice if it did/could.

OK, node modules do not support NODE_PATH it seems. I found the following:

nodejs/modules#534

The workaround would be to symlink node_modules at parent of your project/script to global node_modules as documented at https://github.com/nodejs/node-eps/blob/master/002-es-modules.md#4321-how-to-support-non-local-dependencies

So that is why require works with NODE_PATH and import does not.

any way to use experimental features without importing them? This isn't working:

Hey @micalevisk,

npx has its own cache. What's your zx version? npx zx --version.
You can force the latest v by hand: npx zx@6.0.3 script.js --experimental

somehow when I do npx zx --version, npx ask me to download zx but I'm getting 5.3.0

When I change that shebang line to zx@latest, it works. Thanks!

spinner is working very well so far in the past three months or so that I have been using it. Could you graduate it from being experimental (to be used without --experimental)?
