    This is the problem though—accounting for abuse and your community's safety IS "making the damn thing work" in the early stages of building tech.

    I can’t say for sure, because the problem was small then and frankly we were under water just trying to make the damn thing work.

    Another huge win for open source projects is hidden in the enterprise blog post. Two new granular permissions: Triage and Maintain!!! Open source projects can now designate certain users to just garden issues without write access to code. THIS IS HUGE!

    Best analogy I've heard is building a plane in mid air to refuel the other plane you're also building in mid air. Huge props to the team. What we announced today is just the first iteration. Very excited for all the features the new authorization service will soon allow. 🎉

    I can talk about this! I’m incredibly proud to announce the New Roles and Permissions we announced is also backed by an entirely new authorization service we swapped out very quietly. A ton of hard work went in to making sure the experience was smooth and non-disruptive 💖🤫

    User experience is important, even when your customers are internal. Sufficiently bad corporate IT systems are increasingly indistinguishable from even rudimentary phishing attacks. Let thoughtfulness and care be your first (last?) line of defense.

    Open source Twitter, what do you call a human who has the ability to "write" to your project (merge pull requests, create branches, etc.)? What about someone who can't commit, but helps organize issues (adds labels, closes stale issues, etc.)?

    Learned last night code I wrote for 7+ years ago was still in use, along with the workflows it brought. Upgraded 20+ versions. A good reminder to build tools with empathy. Take a moment today to fix that long-standing bug. It will pay your users dividends for years to come.
