I spoke about my experiences as a maintainer, the things I learned from that, work life balance, bread baking and challenges of popular open source projects.

I gave a keynote about my "Adventures in Open Source Development", sharing the good, the bad and the ugly of working as an indipendent OSS dev on an end user facing project for as long as I have.

A post in which I line out how I built a new automation setup for OctoPrint's release tests, which involved finding a way on how to automate the swapping and flashing of micro SD cards for a bunch of Raspberry Pis in a fully scriptable way.

I participated in the (german) online lab night livestream of Freie Maker e.V., talked about my experiences as OctoPrint's lead and fielded a couple of questions from the audience.

In May 2020 the official OctoPrint Discord Server got launched, as an additional, less formal spot for everyone in the community to hang out at and chat. There’s place for development discussions, printer talk, and we also have a little support section there for quick questions of course, but off topic banter is welcome too and encouraged even.

At the start of the COVID19 pandemic I started a new live stream format in which I work on OctoPrint live on air while explaining what I'm doing and why, and field questions from the live chat. It's a semi regular format that airs whenever I find something interesting to show how to do on air and can fit a 2-3 hour stream into my schedule.

Home Assistant component to scrape the current SARS-CoV-2 data for the German state of Hessen from the website of the Hessisches Ministerium für Soziales und Integration. Patches and releases were pushed whenever the ministry changed the source format.

A small side project in which I built a remote for my Sonos installation utilizing an ESP8266 and MicroPython.

I gave a talk "Driving 3D Printer with Python - Lessons Learned" in which I outlined my experiences of my years of working on OctoPrint, the challenges encountered with an end user facing software built on Python and how I approached them.

Since 2018 the OctoPrint Community Forum has been the one-stop-shop for all things OctoPrint. It's the primary place to get support, share cools stuff built around OctoPrint and acts as the general knowledge base of the project and its surrounding eco system.

Since 2016 I do roughly monthly video updates on my work on OctoPrint for my Patreon supporters and Github sponsors. The recordings of these live streams get published for everyone afterwards as well. I talk about current challenges in development, explain design decisions, problems with 3d printer interfacing and similar topics.

In December 2012 I created "OctoPrint", a web interface for remote controlling and monitoring consumer 3D Printers. What started as a side project I did after-hours, on weekends and during vacations next to my employment turned into a full time job when I was first hired by a 3d printer company in August 2014 and then in June 2016 switched to a fully community funded work model, working exclusively on moving the project forward. I manage the project and coordinate the various contributors, design and implement new functionality and improvements, take care of the constant project maintenance (bug fixing, testing, release management) and also do community management. Since its inception in 2012 OctoPrint has become the de-facto standard for consumer 3D printer web interfaces with ~100000 confirmed instances installed worldwide as of August 2020 and a flourishing plugin ecosystem.
